cullyhanna community enterprises

Few places in the Archdiocese of Armagh felt the death of Cardinal Tomas Ó Fiaich as keenly as the parish of Cullyhanna with which he had such close association since childhood. When, at the end of 1990, Cullyhanna Community Enterprises Ltd (a local voluntary group) was set up to improve the village and create employment, it was inevitable that a fitting memorial to the late Cardinal would be central to the proposed scheme. The project, partially financed by the International Fund for Ireland and the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland, has provided work units, tourist accommodation and retail outlets, but the flagship of the scheme is the Cardinal O Fiaich Heritage Centre (Áras an Chairdinéil Ó Fiaich).
