Part 2: 2009 - Preparatory dig
Following the disappointments of 2005 a new dig was planned for 2009. We decided to carry out a full survey this time followed by the dig in June 2009. 'Awards for All' provided a grant of £10,000 to cover the cost of Geophysical Ground Penetrating Radar Survey and subsequent dig.

||This picture shows Mike Langton, Technical Support Director of LTU Ltd (Subsurface Location Intelligence) carrying out the Survey in January 2009. The row of marker poles behind him mark out the line of what is possibly a souterrain.
||Mike Langton checking readings on his display screen while a team from the LTU Ltd associated group, Precision Industrial Services Ltd, get ready to carry out a detailed charting of the marked features.
||Marker poles showing the position of a dome shaped feature about 3 metres across with a tunnel feature leading away from it. We now have a full report from LTU Ltd which shows at least six features which are worth investigating in June 2009. After the dig a report will be made by the Archaeologist giving full details of all findings.
