DRAGONFLY IRELAND NEWS

Hairy Hawker (Brachytron pratense)News and reports of sightings of Irish dragonflies have appeared here from the beginning of the 2000 season. The aim is to provide a contemporary record of sightings. Records received will be published, so please provide grid references and other information with your records.

As from 2011, Eugenie Regan of the National Biodiversity Data Centre in Waterford http://www.biodiversityireland.ie/ has taken over the role of Irish Dragonfly Recorder from Brian Nelson, and any Odonata records in 2011 (or any in previous years which were not sent in) should be sent to her at eregan@biodiversityireland.ie. Odonata records from Ireland now and in future appear on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/DragonflyIreland/206848686003391. You can join Facebook if you wish to post your sightings or simply E-mail them to Eugenie, although a full list of records should still be sent to her at the end of the season (or more frequently if you prefer).

There will be no further messages relating to Odonata on this website. Past years can still be seen at http://www.habitas.org.uk/dragonflyireland/index.html (for 2000 to 2004), http://www.mothsireland.com/dragonfly/irishodonata2005.htm (2005) and
http://www.mothsireland.com/dragonfly/odonatanews.htm (2006) Years 2007-2010 are accessible from the Menu Bar

You can compare what species have been seen in Ireland so far with those seen in Britain by visiting the "Hot News" page at the British Dragonfly Society website http://www.dragonflysoc.org.uk/hotnews.asp (though the latter does already include some records from Ireland). You can if you wish also send records to this, although check to see whether they are already on it as I include the webmaster in my list of people to whom I send E-mails on Odonata.
